Stress or Fear?

Stress is a widely overused term that covers a multitude of sins. But rarely do we hear it used in beneficial terms.

Stress is an important part of our lives because it pushes us to achieve , strengthens our resolve and physically strengthens our muscles.

If you want to improve your body tone then you already know that exercise is the way to go. You may also know that when building muscle we have to put it under stress and push it almost past its limit in order for it to build up. If the body never exercisesd in any way then it would atrophy, be unable to support itself and you would die eventually as your body wasted away. When men go into space for any length of time their muscles start to waste as gravity no longer adds weight and stress on the body, they need to offset this if they are staying away from earth for a long period.

So stress is a natural part of life. You may have noticed how certain things make you feel stressed whilst others appear to remain unbothered by them. that is because the kind of stress that causes us problems tends to relate to our personal lives and worries rather than weights to lift or problems to solve. In a sense you could replace the word stress with the word fear.

In work the stress may be the fear of not being good enough, fear of failing or being made redundant or unemployed.

In relationships it can be fear of rejection, fear that if they knew the "real" us they would leave, and so on. it is very hard to relax and enjoy anything with this continual fear/stress in the background. The worry this arouses takes a huge toll on the body and if this goes on over a long period then ill health will follow.

The fear, however does not actually come from whatever is currently going on, it stems from beliefs that are held deep down in your sub-conscious and comes to the surface when one or more of your buttons are pushed.

So how do you clear out these old beliefs that may no longer be serving you and are causing you to react today?

It really helps to identify what they are to start with. If you can think back to when you were growing up, try to recall your parents or carers beliefs/words on various topics. as an example did you grow up in a household where the core belief was "miney is hard to come by" or where unemployment was an ongoing problem. If so you will have absorbed some of those beliefs so that even if currently as an adult you do not believe that is the case your subconscious will operate as if it is. The more old beliefs that you can remember the better. Jot them down, because once you have recalled some you can start to eradicate them by challenging them with positive affirmations.
