Meditation

Meditation is highly beneficial for everyone. Many are put off trying meditation because they have the idea that you have to have special knowledge or have achieved some sort of spiritual growth to achieve it properly.

There is nothing mystical about meditating all though it can bring on some very "interesting" experiences if you continue to practice it.

How many times have you wished for some peace and quiet so that you can think, or feel the need to withdraw from those around you and be alone for a while? this is you inbuilt intelligence system guiding you to take time out and quieten your mind so that in a more relaxed state you can work out what is going on with you and process what has occurred or is likely to occur.

We are so busy rushing around, getting stressed, working and trying to make ends meet that we lose the plot somewhat and forget what life is all about. We can become so detached from ourselves, our innermost desires and gifts that we often find ourselves in jobs we hate, relationships that are not what we need or even destructive and even in depression.

So is meditation really the answer?

Well, suprisingly in some part yes. If you can take out 15 minutes each day to just sit quietly, slowing down your thoughts and relaxing the mind and body you would be amazed how your sanity, sense of humour and health will improve. What begins to happen is you get more clarity about what is going on in your life and the best way forward. it is a time when your sub conscious can connect and pass on valuable information and insight. You probably know people who spend so much time running around and keeping busy that you feel if they just stopped for a moment their world might crumble. that is what drives them, fear that if they stop they may actually have to think, feel and deal with their real issues.

The busy-ness of life is not what life is about. Your auhtentic or true self is sometimes stuck underneath layers of conditioning and roles that we play such as wife/husband, mother/father, employee/employer, teacher, lover, friend etc. There is a you that is not bogged down by the practicalities of everyday life. A part of you that is wise, loving and creative. This part does not get a chance in amongst the jumble of day to day living. However, just 15 minutes a day starts to retrain your body and mind to relax and quieten at specific times. It then allows any inner wisdom to bubble up to the surface. as you learn to get into it just asking the question "what is it I need to know?" dropped into the subconscious will bring answers you never imagined. The trick is not to try and consciously answer that question but to allow it to come to you maybe during the meditation time or later in the day.

You will find your days flow more easily, you are more effective and feel less stressed.
